AN INTERVIEW WITH DAVE DICTOR FROM MILLIONS OF DEAD COPS: PUNK POLITICS AND MUSHROOMS

This is an Interview with the Lead singer of the band Millions of Dead Cops done by Juan Camilo Rodriguez Martinez exclusive for the Sociedad Colombiana de Micología...
______________________________

SCM:  What is punk for Dave Dictor?

DD: Punk is the art of looking at ones society and not wanting to play it straight up.  The ideals of the society help us into our punk spirits.

SCM:  Tell me of your favourite 5 punk bands please...

DD: Gary Floyd´s The Dicks and Buddha Brothers. 2. Randy Biscuit and The Big Boys. 3. Cliterati (Portland band). 4. Restarts band with Kieran Plunkett, 5. Pussy Riot from Russia.
SCM:  What is CRASS for Dave Dictor?

DD: Crass for me was a political band like no other. They where guiding lights of political awareness... Penis Envy dropped on me like a good bomb that pointed out the vapid sexism all around us. “Taste me don´t waste me.”

SCM: Talk me about one of your favourite movies and why?

DD: I really love Gandhi with Ben Kingsley. Used Non Violence. Liberated India and Pakistan and was just a special special person... I remember a part where rioting erupted between Hindu and Moslem and Gandhi fasted and it stopped but some Hindu men killed Moslem and viceversa. One implored to Gandhi that he had blood on his hands and how could he stop now. Gandhi told him that there was a way out of hell. The man searched into Gandhi eyes and Gandhi said you must find an orphaned moslem boy and raise him as a moslem. Then you can make it into heaven. It stuck with me. The Godfather is pretty great too.
SCM:  Kurt Cobain was a follower of MDC´s music... So please tell me Dave... Something you like about Nirvana?

DD: Teen Spirit... Everything.

SCM: What do you remember about the Bob Marley show you had the fortune to assist?

DD: I believe it was in 1978 in Austin, Texas and it was great. I went by myself but danced with everybody.

SCM: Tell us a little about whats coming from MDC

DD: Our New Song is “Worlds on Fire”. We are doing “These boots are made for walking” by Nancy Sinatra. “Bulldog” and “Secret Agent Man” too...

SCM: I know MDC supports indigenous tribes and culture. Why is so important to keep their legacy? What do you think of the magic mushrooms?

DD: It´s our human legacy to know of the tales of mushrooms, mescaline, peyote, acid, marihuana, heck, even speed. It´s all things you can learn from. It´s our duty as lesser medicine minstrel storytellers. We have the right. These people trying to control us... are the Anti-Christ. They invented Christ so they can be the devil. Magic mushrooms make it clear to see our Jesus not theirs.

SCM: Thanks Dave Dictor for your time... For me NOFX drives the Motorcycle and MDC is the one that does the shooting... DICKS! KILL FROM THE HEART!.

DD: Love you...
